Professional Experiences
Each year, UESO sends at least one team of students to the Southwestern Branch Meeting of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) to compete in a competition known as the Linnaean Games. Although the reason for attending the meeting is to BTHO everyone else competing, it is a great time to meet other entomologists; both students and professionals. Many employment and graduate school opportunities are also available at these meetings, and you can make many contacts in the professional world to help build your personal network of contacts.
Each year in November, ESA has a national meeting. On a larger scale than the SWB, the national meeting invites all branches to meet. Linnaean Games are held for the respective branch winners, so we make it a goal each year to win the SWB Linnaean Games. At the national meeting, as well as the SWB meeting, students present their research, volunteer to make the meeting run smoothly, and mingle with the entomological community.
Thank you for your interest in UESO and may we continue to benefit from each other.
